KASAP proudly celebrates Dr. Jacqueline Sugarman, Medical Director of the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky, as a 2025 recipient of the National Sexual Violence Resource Center’s (NSVRC) Visionary Voice Award.
This esteemed national recognition honors individuals who have made significant contributions to sexual violence prevention and response.
Dr. Sugarman’s career spans decades of dedicated service in pediatric and child abuse medicine. She has been instrumental in shaping Kentucky’s medical response to child abuse and sexual violence. Her leadership roles include serving on the Kentucky Multidisciplinary Commission on Child Sexual Abuse and as a physician representative on the state’s sexual assault response team.
Notably, Dr. Sugarman collaborated with KASAP and other community partners to develop Kentucky’s Child Sexual Abuse Medical Protocol and co-created the state’s first Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE-P) course. Her commitment to trauma-informed care and multidisciplinary collaboration has significantly advanced the state’s efforts to protect children and support survivors of sexual violence.
Dr. Sugarman’s unwavering dedication exemplifies the spirit of the Visionary Voice Award, inspiring continued progress in the movement to end sexual violence.
