Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month
During April 2025, KASAP will lead Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) with a series of statewide events aimed at raising awareness, supporting survivors, and promoting prevention efforts. The month kicks off with “Why Wear Teal Week” (April 1-6), encouraging individuals to wear teal and spark conversations about sexual violence. “Green Dot Week” (April 7-13) focuses on bystander intervention and promoting a culture of accountability. “Chalk the Walk or Rock Kindness Week” (April 14-20) invites communities to spread messages of support and awareness through sidewalk chalk and painted rocks. “Transforming Harm Week” (April 21-27) highlights survivor-centered approaches to reimagining justice and healing. The month concludes with “Denim Day” on April 30, a global event to challenge victim-blaming myths by wearing denim in solidarity with survivors. These initiatives provide accessible and impactful ways for individuals and organizations to take part in preventing sexual violence and fostering a culture of support.
