KY ASSOCIATION OF SEXUAL ASSAULT PROGRAMS RECEIVES GRANT, WELCOMES NEW STAFF
Frankfort, KY – 4/20/2022 – The Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs (KASAP) is pleased to announce that they have awarded a $750,000 grant by Kentucky’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services. With this additional grant funding, KASAP will increase its impact on the people and communities it serves.
With the new grant funding, KASAP will launch the Access Healing Project under the leadership of newly-hired Coordinator Amy Turner. The goal of the Access Healing Project is to enhance efforts in Kentucky to prevent sexual harm, provide targeted outreach and awareness to survivors who also have experience with substance use, and improve the access to services for communities we have not been reaching. The goal is to implement trauma- and resilience-informed practices at Kentucky’s 13 regional rape crisis centers. The project also includes developing an advisory council comprised of survivors and providers.
“After doing frontline work for 18 years, I’m excited to be on this side to help cheer our Centers on and help them be better at their services to survivors of our State,” says Turner. “Helping out our communities and figuring out what can change to provide better services, are both a passion of mine, and I am very happy to have made this move over to KASAP!”
For much of the almost 50-year history of the anti-rape movement in Kentucky, KASAP has supported support making help for sexual assault victims more accessible. KASAP is also nationally recognized for their implementation of strong evidence-based programs on violence prevention in schools and communities throughout Kentucky.
